Alexandria was an Egyptian city that became the foremost center of commerce and Hellensitic civilization.
Euclid compiled a geometry text that Eratosthenes and Aristarchus used. He was highly regarded mathematician that taught in Alexandria. HIs best known book, Elements, contained 465 carefully presented geometry propositions and proofs.
