1. Direct democracy was a form of government in which citizens rule directly and not through representatives which was an important legacy of Periclean Athens.

A tragedy was a serious drama Greeks would write for entertainment.
A comedy was a form of Greek entertainment with slapstick humor.
The Peloponnesian War was fought between Sparta and Athens due to ill will between the two city-states.
A philosopher were thinkers and lovers of wisdom. One group of philosophers in Ancient Greece were the Sophists.
Socrates was a critic of the Sophists who believed that absolute standards did exist for truth and justice.
Plato was a student of Socrates. He wrote down the conversations of Socrates and wrote The Republic.
Aristotle was a philosopher who questioned the nature of the world and human belief. He invented a method for arguing.

3. Pericles increased number of public officials who were paid salaries which stemmed to direct democracy and used money from Delian League to beautify Athens with glorifying art and create the Parthenon.
4. Athens had the stronger navy but Sparta's location inland made it difficult to be attacked by sea. Pericles' strategy was to avoid land battles and wait for the opportunity to strike by sea. Eventually, Sparta swept over Athenian territory and burned all their food supply. In the 2nd year, a plague struck Athens and killed 1/3 of its population and the war ended in a truce.
5. I think that Athenians found Socrates' ideas disturbing because it questioned their beliefs and caused the citizens to think about their values and actions.
